The county sheriff's department is authorized to take into custody any abandoned motor
vehicle, watercraft or outboard motor found on public or private property. The county
sheriff's department may use personnel, equipment and facilities of the county sheriff's
department or other personnel, equipment, and facilities provided by contract with
the city to remove, preserve, store, send notice regarding, and dispose of an abandoned
motor vehicle, watercraft, or outboard motor taken into custody by the county sheriff's
department.
