§ 15-17. School zones.

  • (a)

    Authorization. The city manager or his[/her designee] is hereby authorized and directed to implement these new school zones of this section in order to protect the public welfare and safety.

    (b)

    Area of application.

    (1)

    The City of Henrietta designates school zone on the following streets at the Henrietta Junior High Campus. A maximum speed limit of twenty (20) miles per hour is hereby established during the hours from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on days when public schools are in session.

    a.

    On Gilbert Street between North Henrietta and North Angelina Streets.

    b.

    On Henrietta Street between East Ikard and East Gilbert Streets.

    c.

    On Ikard Street between North Henrietta and North California Streets.

    d.

    On Crafton Street between N. Rodgers and Centennial Parkway.

    (c)

    Cell phone usage. No cell phone usage is allowed in these school zones while operating a motor vehicle unless using a hands free device.

    (d)

    Penalty. Any person who violates any of the provisions of this article shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon convictions thereof shall be subject to punishment as provided in section 1-7 of the Code of Ordinances.
