§ 20-47. Charges for turning on water service, returned checks, etc.

  • (a)

    A service charge of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) will be added to a customer's account each time customer moves to a different address with the city limits. The same service charge will be made to customers who request the city to turn their water off because of a leak and have been unable to obtain a plumber.

    (b)

    A reconnect charge of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) each time will be made to customers whose services have been discontinued because of non-payment. The twenty-five dollars ($25.00) plus full amount of delinquent water, sewer, and sanitation will be paid in full before services will be reinstated. If payment is made by a check which is returned for insufficient funds, services will be discontinued without further notice to the customer.

    (c)

    A service charge of forty dollars ($40.00) will be made for every insufficient check plus service charges for the reconnect/disconnect.

    (d)

    The above charges will be applied for the designated services if such services are performed during regular working hours. An extra twenty-five dollars ($25.00) will be charged if the services are performed after 5:00 p.m., or on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

    (e)

    An extra one hundred fifty dollars ($150.00) charge shall be made if a customer tampers with the city meter after being disconnected for non-payment. Meter will be removed on second tampering offense and the charge will be two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00).
