§ 20-54. Multiple connections restricted.

  • (a)

    As used in this section:

    More than one (1) use on a meter shall mean one (1) or more additions of physical pipes and/or other fixtures or connections to the water pipes on the user's side of the user's meter the purpose of which is to furnish water to a secondary business and/or residence located on the user's premises.

    More than one (1) use on a sewer tap shall mean other fixtures or connections to the sewer lines on the user's side of the sewer tap the purpose of which is to dispose of sewerage from a secondary business and/or residence located on the user's premises.

    (b)

    Multiple connections (more than one (1) use on a meter) are allowed only as follows:

    (1)

    For each commercial or residential use of a water meter which is in addition to the original single tap usage, added to the regular water bill figured in the normal manner for single usage shall be a charge equaling the minimum charge (commercial or residential respectively) less one dollar ($1.00);

    (2)

    For each additional commercial or residential use of a sewer tap where there is only one (1) meter account, added to the regular sewer charge figured in the normal manner for single usage shall be a charge equaling the minimum charge (commercial or residential respectively) less one dollar ($1.00) (if either sewer tap use is a commercial use, then the regular service charge shall be computed on the commercial basis);

    (3)

    For each additional commercial or residential use of the city sanitation service where there is only one (1) water account, a regular sanitation charge for each added use determined at the normal rates shall be added to the sanitation bill unless such additional usage is covered in the commercial rate or unless a dumpster has been requested by such water account;

    (4)

    A deposit of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) shall be required for each multiple residential use;

    (5)

    A deposit of fifty dollars ($50.00) shall be required for each multiple commercial use;

    (6)

    Such rates shall apply and shall be charged each month that such multiple use is connected.
