§ 5-22. Permits.

  • (a)

    Application blanks for permits for construction, alterations or moving shall be furnished by the city. The building inspector or his representative shall approve or countersign all applications for construction before a permit therefor shall be issued by him thereon.

    (b)

    Any person desiring to construct or build any building or house or alter or remodel, move or demolish a building on any premises for any reason whatsoever, or any owner desiring to do any such work, obtain a permit from the building inspector.

    (c)

    An application for a building permit for building any structure over one (1) story in height, or which is to be used for any other purpose than a one-or two-apartment residence, must be accompanied with a floor plan and elevation or if in the opinion of the building inspector plans are necessary on a one-or two-apartment residence he may require such plans as are necessary.

    (d)

    The permit and inspection fees set forth below shall be paid to the city before the issuance of a permit and before any work is started and the Standard Building Code, is amended to comply with the following schedule. The fees shall be as follows:

    (1)

    Building permits for new residential, alterations and additions, new business or commercial, and alterations and additions:

    Building (Total Valudation)

    $1,000.00 and less ..... $40.00

    $1,001.00 to $50,000 ..... $40.00

    $50,001.00 to $100,000.00 ..... $250.00

    $100,001.00 to $500,000.00 ..... $500.00

    $500,001.00 and greater ..... $1,500.00

    (2)

    Demolition permits:

    Demolition permits ..... $25.00

    All new construction, and such portions of existing buildings as may be affected by new work or any changes, shall be inspected to insure compliance with all the requirements of this chapter. It shall be the duty of the builder to give reasonable advance notice to the building inspection department when construction is ready for inspection.

    If the inspector finds the construction does not meet with the requirements of this chapter, the builder shall make the necessary corrections and the work shall then be resubmitted for inspection.
