§ 7-18. Exit lighting for places of public assembly.
(a)
Type of places requiring. Exit lighting shall be provided in all places of assembly such as, but not limited to, churches, schools, skating rinks, dance halls, auditoriums and theaters.
(b)
Lighted while building in use. The exit light shall be in operation at all times that the building is in use.
(c)
Location. The exit light shall be placed at all outside entrances and exits and at any other points in the building to indicate clearly the direction of egress.
(d)
Design. Each exit light fixture shall be designed with two (2) lamp holders.
(e)
Required wattage. The lamps shall be of not less than fifteen (15) watts nor more than twenty-five (25) watts. The wattage of exit lights per circuit shall be not more than one thousand six hundred and fifty (1,650) watts.
(f)
Lettering and color. The lettering on the exit light shall be not less than five (5) inches high and the glass shall be red and white or green and white.
(g)
Service and wiring. The services for the exit light system shall be ahead of the main line fuses. The exit lighting system shall be kept entirely independent of all other wiring system and equipment and shall not enter the same raceway or cabinets of other systems except in cases of automatic transfer switches.
(h)
Switch. The switch for controlling exit lights shall be accessible only to authorized personnel and shall be controlled from one (1) point only.
