§ 7-5. Nonmetallic sheathed cable, knob and tube, BX or armored cable.

  • (a)

    Where use allowed. Nonmetallic sheathed cable, knob and tube, or BX or armored cable wiring may be used in installation of one-or two-family dwellings, provided this is not in conflict with requirements governing within restricted areas such as fire zones.

    (b)

    Where use not allowed. Nonmetallic sheathed cable, knob and tube, or BX or armored cable will not be permitted in surface installations where such cable is exposed to mechanical injury without being encased in a metal raceway.

    (c)

    Gang boxes, installation. Where gang boxes are used, either sectional or solid, bar-type metal or wooden headers must be set for their support. Where wooden headers are used, boxes shall be fastened with wood screws. Nails will not be permitted for this purpose. Nails will be permitted if a box has mounting ears on it.
