§ 5-58. Order of inspection.

Latest version.
  • All plumbing work shall be inspected by the plumbing inspector as follows:

    (1)

When the main house drain and house sewer are laid and before covered up.

    (2)

When the soil, waste and vent pipes within buildings are in place and connected to traps, when such traps are below the floor level, and before being covered up or concealed, they shall be filled with water to the top of the vent stack above the roof. If there are leaks they shall be corrected by the person in charge of the work by removing all defective material and replacing same with sound material; and new water tests shall be applied until the work is found to be tight and to conform to the requirements of this article. If the plumbing inspector deems it necessary to do so, he may require peppermint or smoke test to be made under his instructions.

    (3)

When it is inconvenient or impractical to test the work at one time, it may be tested in sections, but each new partial test must include all portions of the work previously tested. If such work shall be found by the plumbing inspector to comply with this article, and shall stand the required test, the inspector shall approve the same by sticking a white label bearing the word "Approved" and his signature as "Plumbing Inspector" upon conspicuous parts of the work after which parts of the work to be covered may be covered.

    (4)

When the work is fully completed and ready for use there shall be notice to the plumbing inspector who shall thereupon proceed to make final inspection.
